The main purpose of this book is to outline the Flippen / Flippin family from the earliest known generation down to 1925. This continues the project that was originally begun in the Flipping Flippins issues. Unfortunately I am not able to keep the same identification numbers used for the first four generations on the FLIPPIN FAMILIES web site and in the Flipping Flippins issues. The best solution at this time is to insert the individual's number after their first or middle name within brackets (only for the first four generations). This will allow you to quickly find an individual.
The first generation is not detailed in this book since it are already outlined on the FLIPPIN FAMILIES web site. After getting many requests for information on later generations and receiving additional information, I realized that it would be most beneficial to all of us, including me, to provide the later generations. Rather than trying to sort out the information, put it in order then put it on pages for the web site, I opted to go with Family Tree Maker to help make my job easier.
The important data in this book will be brief. References are not included. If you need references or a contact person for a specific person or family, send me an e-mail with your inquiry. Please identify the person and/or family and what you are looking for. I do not have all the documentation. If you would like to be listed as a contact person for a specific family and/or person, let me know and I will add you to my reference file.
As with all genealogy family histories, there will be errors and guesses. I urge you not to accept the data as solid fact. You should do your own research to prove each fact. I welcome all additions and corrections. Please include documentation to support your data.
Since only brief data is provided, if you would like to do a biography on a specific individual or family, you are welcome to. There is a section in the FLIPPIN FAMILIES web site available specifically for biographies.
The cut off date for the information is 1925. Families with children born before 1925 are included. Individuals who married after 1925 and had children will not be included. The book focuses on Flippin lines only. For the married daughters, they along with their husbands and children will be listed, but not their descendants. This will help keep the book from becoming too large and exceeding the space limit.
Few of the lines are not continued since they are covered in published family history books or outlined on other web sites. If some of the families are covered on your or another web site and/or published family history books, please send me the URL or book title so that I may include it with these families. There is no point for me to type the information and try to keep it updated when someone already has it on their web site. One can simply just click on the URL or get the book.
Birth dates for living individuals born 1925 or later are kept "private." If you know that a specific individual is now deceased, send me his/her birth and death dates with locations.
Please do not sell or duplicate the entire book or even a large portion of the book to put on your web site or in a publication. You are welcome to put this web site's URL on your site. You may use only portions of the information that relate to your line. All of the information resulted from years of research done by Flippin descendants, including myself, since early 1900s and the generous sharing of researchers for inclusion in the Flipping Flippins issues, which featured "biographical sketches" covering each families in each generation (similar to FLIPPIN FAMILIES). The credit for the Flippin family history is given to Flippin Family Association. I am just a compiler of the information, the owner of the FLIPPIN FILES and FLIPPIN FAMILIES web sites, editor of the Flipping Flippins, a researcher and a proud Flippin descendant.
